The name might sound familiar, but not because of Christina Ricci. It comes from a legacy brand called Vittorio Ricci.

Vittorio Ricci started in 1975. In 1981, the company introduced a shoe that changed the landscape of the footwear industry. It was the first brand to bring women’s fashionable comfort into the casual category—high-end, stylish shoes, handmade in Italy, that could be worn all day.


At the time, this was considered a radical idea. It sparked a revolution in women’s footwear that continues to this day.

Even 25 years after we stopped producing new styles, you can still find Vittorio Ricci shoes on platforms like eBay—often in great condition. That’s because they were made to last.

What you may not know is that our tradition of creating innovative products—and our commitment to small business—goes back three generations. We believe in building a good company, making a good product, providing good jobs, and serving good customers.

Our goal has never been to make a billion dollars or take over the world. It’s been to live comfortably, help build a community, and spend as much time as possible with the people we care about.

That tradition is exactly what Vittorio Ricci stood for. It started as one person trying to make a product people truly needed. Over time, Vittorio Ricci shoes were sold at Nordstrom and Saks Fifth Avenue. The company even opened a store on Fifth Avenue and hired local New Yorkers—including a stock boy who later became a well-known actor (we all start somewhere, right?).

The brand grew and flourished. It caught the attention of magazines like Vogue, as well as TV and film costume designers. Eventually, it drew interest from a large corporation that wanted to take the brand global.

The company was sold.

As you might expect, it didn’t end well—Vittorio Ricci shoes are no longer sold in stores.

We believed that a large corporation could take a quality product and deliver it to a wider audience at a fair price. Instead, the focus shifted to profit margins over quality and customer loyalty, and the brand declined.

We learned a hard lesson from Vittorio Ricci. Prioritizing profit over people isn’t just a moral failure—it’s a business failure.

We won’t let that happen again.

As much as we’d like to be 100% small-business-made, we currently can’t achieve that. Whether it’s our e-commerce platform or our banking services, some parts of the process still rely on large corporations.

Right now, we estimate we’re about 85% there.

We’re aware of the gap, and we’re actively working to close it as we grow. Our goal is to get as close to 100% as possible over time.

Because we believe in transparency.

Customers shouldn’t have to dig through the internet to figure out whether a product is legitimate or whether a company’s claims are true. We believe trust should be earned upfront.

We can’t build a loyal customer base unless we’re loyal to our customers first

Whenever we have the opportunity to work with a small business—where our dollars go to people, not large corporations—we take it.
